The past year I had the opportunity to take part in the Rutgers Street Law Clinical Program. The Street Law Program develops classroom and grassroots programs that educate students and communities about law, democracy, and human rights. Some of our initiatives bring us directly into classrooms and neighborhoods.

A fellow classmate and I would develop weekly legal lessons to teach students at a local high school. This opportunity gave us the chance to educate students who might not have had knowledge regarding their civil rights. This program is a step forward to decreasing crime and remedying issues regarding at-risk youth.
